Who we are

We are Scalar Consulting. We are the controller of the personal data described in this notice.

What this notice covers

This notice covers personal data we collect when you:

  • use the contact form on this site

  • download The Builder’s Decade (or another paper we offer the same way)

  • browse the site, where we use analytics

  • are a potential customer we contact about Scalar's work by email, phone, voicemail or LinkedIn

What we collect

Contact form
Name, work email, company, and the message you type.

Paper download
Work email, first name if you give it, and whether you said you are happy for us to follow up about Scalar’s work.

Site analytics
Information about how the site is used (for example pages viewed). This may include online identifiers such as an IP address or similar technical data, depending on how the analytics tool is set up.

Business outreach
Name, job title, work email, work phone or work mobile, company details, and notes of our contact with you.

We may record and transcribe meetings, with notice at the start, to keep accurate notes.

Where we get it

If we contact you without you contacting us first, we get your details from public registers such as Companies House, company websites, professional networks, and B2B contact-data providers. Ask us and we will tell you the specific source of your details.

Why we use it

Contact form
To answer your enquiry and to follow up on that same conversation where we need to.

Paper download
To provide the paper and to keep a short record of who asked for it. If you ticked the follow-up box, to email you about Scalar’s work. If you did not tick it, we will not use the download for that kind of follow-up email.

Analytics
To understand how people use the site so we can keep it useful and working properly.

Business outreach
To contact potential customers about work Scalar could do for their company, by email, phone, voicemail or LinkedIn.

We do not sell your data to marketing companies.

Only as long as we need to handle them and keep sensible business records, then we delete or strip out what identifies you.

Downloads where the box was not ticked
Up to 90 days, then we delete.

Downloads where the box was ticked
Until you ask us to stop or delete, or the conversation has ended. If you object or withdraw consent, we keep a minimal do-not-email record so we do not write again by mistake.

Business outreach
Up to 12 months from our last contact if there is no ongoing conversation, then we delete. If you ask us to stop, we keep a minimal record of that request.
